Gulisi was the daughter of Paramount Chief Joseph Chatoyer, who arrived to Dangriga from the island of St. Vincent. She was the first Garifuna women to arrive and settle in the Dangriga-Commerce Bight area. She came along with erg 13 sons, who carried the surname, Lambey. Some of the sons were the first to settle many of the Garifuna settlements in Believe She would have arrived in the 1820s. There are several family groups in the Garifuna communities who are descended from her.
